Wade and June Davis

From the mid 1940's to 1960 we lived in Corning NY where my father (and later my mother) worked for the Corning Glass Works.
This is a picture of my parents standing in front of our home in Corning. As a more famous Davis once said " what a dump".

Wade and Tom on a swingset

 Tom and Wade

When my brother wasn't trying to electrocute me, blow me up with one of his chemical concoctions, or putting me in a cardboard box and pushing me down the cellar steps, we would sometimes play together. Here we are together on our swing set. If you look carefully ( or click on the picture for a larger view in a new window) you will see a sled just behind my brother's left elbow--no doubt it had been there since the previous winter.

Although Wade was not nearly as cute as I was, he did not normally go out in public wearing a mask. This picture, which was taken just before we went to a Cub Scout Halloween party, brings back a lot of memories for me. Needless to say, I was the only kid there (despite looking like Dennis the Menace) without a costume. Some things are just not forgotten.

First grade class picture

Finally we come to a picture of my first grade class at PS 3. This was taken in 1954. Mrs. Turner (not shown) was our teacher and I can be found in the last row (third from the right sporting a crew cut.) To be honest I can no longer remember. with exception of Sammy Jack (third row and third from the right) the names of my other classmates.
