Here
we have the first two of four Wade Taylor Davis's in our family.
On the left is Wade Sr. in a portrait (circa 1913) taken before
he married my grandmother, Mollie Walker.
My grandparents originally came from the Asheville/Old Fort
area of North Carolina (actually my grandfather came from Big Ivy
in Buncombe County which
is near Asheville.) They moved to Westfield, Pennsylvania in 1933
because my grandfather could no longer find work in the leather
tannery business in the south. Gramps (as we called him) was able
to find work at the Eberle Tannery in Westfield, where he worked
for the next 30 years. After he retired in 1963 they returned to
live in Asheville The next picture is of my father Wade
Jr. I am
assuming this is his college
graduation picture (circa 1941.)
This
is, I believe, the wedding portrait of my aunt
Jessie (who was named
after her uncle Jesse Davis) and Bob
Bell. Uncle Bob died in 1960
at the age of 42. I had been told by my father that, after Uncle
Bob's death, Jessie destroyed all of her pictures of him; however,
like so many things he said, this was not true. A Davis never lets
facts interfere with a good story.
These
are the grandchildren of Wade and Mollie Davis. Holding the skull
(don't ask why) is my brother Wade
Taylor Davis III. Holding Snoopy
is his wife Mollie (I am starting to see a pattern here) and next
to her are Virginia and Bob
(Butch) Bell--Jesse and Bob Bell's only
son. The other picture is, of course, of myself pretending to work
on these pages (actually I am just taking this picture.)

One
thing that is difficult to do is to gather most of the Davis Family
together at one time; however, as evident from the picture above
we did manage to accomplish this feat recently. The grandchildren
of Wade T. Davis Sr. are of course Bob Bell (who was not at this
gathering), Wade III and myself. The great-grand children, Gordon
and Wade IV, are the sons of Mollie and Wade Davis III.The great-great
grandchildren are Cory and Ashlie (the son and daughter of Cindy
and Gordon Davis), and Raegan (the daughter of Hope and Wade Taylor
Davis IV).
These
are the grandchildren of Wade and Mollie Davis (I believe I have
written this before). Since the family reunion picture was taken
(the picture above this section) the grandchildren of my brother
have grown in size and number. On the left are Gordon and Cindy's
children Cory and Ashlie and on the right are Wade IV and Hope's
children Savannah Morgan (the most recent addition to the family)
and Raegan.
